Mount Mary Apartments

Residential

Luxurious aesthetics and effective space planning were the two pillars for creating this design. The goal was to design a residence to embody the client’s personality and evoke their unique character transferred onto the space.

Challenged with a 450 sq.ft. apartment in Bandra, the young couple who approached me were unambiguous on their brief and vision of the outcome. They wanted an open space with customized statement pieces as well as maximum storage. Incorporating the two, I developed a solution using white as my base palette to visually create the feeling of a larger area and intelligently gave flushed storage within. The bold colours and patterns which are reminiscent of the Art Deco era were customized at my studio and added vibrancy.

Exclusive materials and applications are used to achieve the design outcome. In the living room, we used white quartz flooring with copper inlay and gold leafing on the walls. The wooden wall library is adorned with gold mouldings and each piece of furniture is unique with its form and use of brass. To create an informal setting, there is an open space kitchen with a Black Marquina marble. The brass pendant lights add glamour and symmetry. The entire length of the corridor ceiling has storage.

The bedroom has matt textured Spanish tiles and the wardrobes are finished in high gloss lamination. The custom bed and furnishings add richness. The bathroom has multihued tiles flown in from Spain and a custom mirror to create a spacious atmosphere.
